Queue Operations
SKE provides runtime control over queue processing without touching the cloud console. For queue infrastructure provisioning, see Infrastructure: Queues.
Pausing and resuming a queue
Section titled “Pausing and resuming a queue”The environment’s overview page in the dashboard has a Queues card listing each queue with its worker’s state, Running or Paused. Select Pause to stop the queue’s worker, and Resume to start it again. A queue that has not been deployed yet shows Not deployed. The CLI has no queue commands.
Pausing stops the queue service from delivering messages to your application. Messages accumulate in the queue and are processed when you resume.
Queue metrics
Section titled “Queue metrics”ske metrics shows each queue’s backlog and its oldest message, next to the functions’ invocations and errors:
ske metrics production --period 1hWhen to pause queues
Section titled “When to pause queues”- During migrations — pause queues before running migrations that change the data structure jobs depend on
- Debugging — pause to inspect the queue state without new messages being processed
- Load management — pause low-priority queues during traffic spikes
Failed jobs
Section titled “Failed jobs”A job whose worker crashes as many times as the queue’s Tries setting moves to the queue’s dead-letter queue. Set Tries and Backoff per queue under the environment’s Settings, Queues & scheduler.
